ETA: Wow! Thanks for all the replies. It's obvious what is wanted! We are not publishing replies so that answers are not biased. Keep em coming!!
Hi everyone... or anyone that still stops by for a visit to this neglected blog! We would like to apologize for our absence and are here now to up date you. Both Britt and I decided a few months ago to stop posting our best work so that there would be many fresh surprises in the book.
We have been working with a literary agent and have made some changes. "The Book" is simply going to be a gift book. Beautiful images on carefully designed spreads, bound in a gorgeous book. Don't be disappointed, now!! We plan on self publishing a soft cover book as the "work book" portion. I think this is a great call, because the work book section may not be as pretty as we want the rest of the book to be. There will be a play by play of each image, in order.
We are super excited about it and we would both like to apologize for the big wait. We announced this a little prematurely because we wanted to see if there would truly be interest in it. It's a LOT of work! And I think it will be worth it!
Britt and I have been shooting together since March and we are having a BLAST. Most definitely our best stuff yet. And with my sister pregnant with twins (due in August), the best is yet to come!!
And because I can't post without a picture, here's a recent:
I thought today would be a perfect chance to announce some news I have been waiting so long to share!! Exciting things are in the works for 2008. First being a big move very soon :) I'm so happy to say that I will be moving all the way from Atlanta to San Diego in the beginning of March!! Carrie and I will be teaming up to photograph many, many sessions together- something we both truly cannot wait for! This is only the beginning of many exciting things to come, so stay tuned!!!! Happy New Years everyone!!!!!!!
Some pictures... This is photographer Blair Blanks' newest baby girl, Marin. I had the pleasure of flying out to Baltimore after a Thanksgiving in sunny Florida. I definitely had some weather shock there! No snow, but cold, wet and dark weather. The lighting was somewhat of a challenge, but it was fun trying out new things. I did my first newborn session with studio lighting. We had to do some improvising, but I'm so glad we were able to make things work. She was a sweetie :)
Oh my! Where have I been? I'm finally settling down after a busy holiday season. I will share my last session of the season (although not of the year... I do have a couple newborns scheduled next week!).
I fell in love right there... as soon as I took that first picture of Carrie's little Lily snugly wrapped in a soft cream gauze. From her sweet little face peeking out of the gauze at the top to the soft impression of her tiny toes pressed against the material at the bottom. In my eyes, it was a perfect combination. That was nearly two years ago. Since then, I have evolved my wraps to include two babies and also tried out different wrapping materials and techniques! I have always loved the look of a swaddled newborn, so cozy in the blanket, but I always found blankets to be too bulky, distracting the viewer from the true subject of the picture. After wrapping many babies, there are several techniques and materials that I have found to work best when wrapping the little ones. Check back on the blog soon for some exciting news :)
Sorry we have both been MIA for the last month or so. We have both been very busy with the holiday rush. As soon as we both get caught up again we will try and post more. We have both photographed TONS of newborns this fall, so we have plenty to share when we find the spare time ;). Thanks to those who leave such kind comments :)
Last week I went out and photographed Stacy Wasmuth's newest little one. Many photographers are probably familiar with her stunning work. It's always fun photographing a photographer, because I can often try out some crazy ideas that I wouldn't regularly do with clients. Her little Elijah was such a sweetheart and was the perfect little model! I very much enjoyed my stay out in Indianapolis! Here are just a few from my trip.
